FAIRFIELD — A portion of the B Street trail in Fairfield was closed Tuesday and will remain closed for at least a week while it is being repaired.
The closure is just south of the intersection of North B Street and Badgett Drive, at the bottom of the hill. Trail users are encouraged to find alternate routes.
Fairfield City Engineer Melanie Carlson said the closure is only affecting the trail and not the street. While performing work in the area related to the new sewer line, a contractor broke the concrete sidewalk, necessitating the trail’s closure.
Carlson said work on the installation of the new sewer line has gone well during the past few days as dry weather has allowed construction crews to work uninterrupted. Another portion of town that has been affected by the new sewer installation is Forest Drive and its intersection with Broadway Avenue on the east side of town. That intersection has been closed to traffic since it had to be dug up a few weeks ago, and Carlson estimates it will remain closed for a few more weeks.
