Portions of Libertyville Road, D Street to close

The city of Fairfield has announced a couple of road closures taking effect this week.

One of them is beginning today - the eastbound lane of Libertyville Road near Fairfield will be closed for sanitary sewer construction. The lane closure will be approximately 1,000 feet east of Key Boulevard, near 2060 Libertyville Road.

Residents will have access to their drives. Travelers are advised to use caution in the area. Eastbound traffic will yield to oncoming traffic and the speed limit will be posted at 35 miles per hour.

Another road that will be closed is South D Street between Jackson and Harrison avenues, beginning Tuesday. Pedestrians and vehicles need to find an alternate route. The work should take two weeks, allowing D Street to reopen before the first day of school.
