A winter storm system will track just south of the region Friday afternoon through Saturday, bringing accumulating snows to the area.
At this time, it appears that 1 to 3 inches of snow will be likely generally along and southeast of a line from Cedar Rapids to Freeport, Ill., with higher amounts of 3 to 5 inches possible in parts of southeast Iowa, northeast Missouri and west central Illinois.
