With the endless rounds of snowfall happening in Mt. Pleasant recently, postal workers are forced to tread carefully while delivering mail. For blocks, postal workers are walking through piles of snow and hidden ice, having to watch their every step.
'You gotta be careful in this weather,” postal carrier Derek Botelho said. 'It's slippery, there's ice, and we have to wear a lot of protective gear.”
'It's not good when people don't shovel their sidewalks,” he said. 'It makes it harder and more dangerous for us postal workers to deliver the mail, but sometimes, people just can't get to shoveling their walks.”
In order to help out the postal workers and to keep the sidewalks safe, the city is asking Mt. Pleasant residents to shovel their walks if they can.
