For 32 years the Power Wagon Rally has brought in hundreds of visitors to Fairfield each year for a week long experience.
This year, Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce adds a new element to the event by hosting a 'Party in the Park” for both rally attendees and the general public.
'Join us for this kick off to summer by kicking up your heels to some free outdoor music, and check out 'The Truck That Built America,”' said chamber director Darien Sloat.
The party is Wednesday in Fairfield's square.
The schedule of events is:
6 p.m. – Parking on the square is reserved for rally vehicles
6:30 p.m. – Hy-Vee and Sweet ‘n Saucy will set up grills to serve food in Central Park
7 p.m. – Mayor Ed Malloy will name select rally attendees as 'Honorary Citizens of Fairfield”
7:20 p.m. – Frankie James and the Red Hot Flames begin playing.
Wednesday's party is one of many events part of the Annual Vintage Doge Power Wagon Rally, which starts Sunday and runs through June 9. To register for the events, visit www.vintagepowerwagons.com.
The public is invited to the Dodge Vintage Power Wagon Rally on Saturday, June 8. The parade of vehicles will leave the Jefferson County Fairgrounds at 8:30 a.m. and head east on Burlington Avenue before parking around the square. The truck show will last from 9-11 a.m.
