During Balloon Sinuplasty, a surgeon places a small, flexible balloon catheter through a nostril and into the blocked sinus passageway. The surgeon then inflates the balloon to gently restructure and open the sinus passageway, restoring normal sinus drainage and function. Surgeons often do not need to remove any tissue or bone.
