Programs resume at Kalona library
Sep. 6, 2022 12:04 pm
KALONA — After a month long hiatus from in-person programming, the Kalona Public Library has revived its schedule of daytime activities.
Toddler Time has returned to the schedule every Friday at 10 a.m., with Preschool Time set to resume at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7. Early Out Afternoons will restart Wednesday Sept. 14, where Mid-Prairie students from kindergarten through fifth grade can come to watch movies, play with Legos, or work on crafts.
“I always look forward to the start of the school year because it means the start of our programs,” said Olivia Kahler, director of youth services at the library. “My outreach programs are just as rewarding. I love getting into the preschool classrooms at Mid-Prairie, their first grade classrooms for junior achievement, and going out to Kids’ Country Club for a biweekly story time."
Staff said the hiatus was the library’s annual time to weed out the collection, and served as a needed reprieve after a record breaking summer reading program with 304 participants.
