AINSWORTH — The Iowa Utility Board (Iowa Utilities Board) plans to hold a public informational meeting on the proposed Goldfinch Solar project on Monday. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m., Sept. 26 at the Steinbeck Conference Hall in the Washington County Conservation center at Marr Park.
Associates of the solar project will be required to present information on the facility’s location, physical appearance and structures, sought property rights, negotiation procedures, and remaining easement payments, according to a public notice published in The News.
While some community members have voiced concerns about the project, executives at Conifer have voiced their intention to minimize negative impacts.
“The project is a partnership with private landowners near Ainsworth who voluntarily choose to participate and would maintain the character of the rural community,” the public notice said.
Chad Little, vice president of development at Conifer Power, said the company was ready for the meeting.
“At this early stage of development, this open meeting serves as the first of many opportunities to share more about the project and gather community feedback and input, while also meeting Iowa Utilities Board requirements,” he said in a statement. “We look forward to seeing everyone next week and having an open dialogue as a dedicated community partner.”
