MT. PLEASANT - The wait is over for those hoping to get back into the Quarter Maybe More Store.
The second hand shop, run by local nonprofit Fellowship Cup, will reopen on Monday, June 22 for donations, and plans to reopen to customers the week following on June 29.
Those interested in offering donations are asked to walk down the store's back alley where instructions will be posted on how to drop off items. Additionally, the store is asking donation items be separated by category (clothing and household goods).
Once the store reopens to customers, staff and volunteers will continue to limit how many people are in the space all at once to keep social distancing guidelines, Ken Brown, executive director of the Fellowship Cup, explained.
'It's going to be a case-by-case basis. We're going to see how busy we are, if people are keeping social distance. If that's not happening, we may have to hold up how many people can be in there to adhere to social distancing,” Brown said.
The store also will be providing hand sanitizer at the door and asking customers to sanitize before entering. Though masks will not be required, they are highly recommended.
'The board was really wanting to see the numbers begin to trend down for a few weeks and we've seen that in the state and Henry County. The main reason we waited was just to keep customers, staff and volunteers safe,” Brown said of the nonprofit's decision to reopen the store.
The executive director also thanked the community for their patience and continued support through the coronavirus pandemic.
'Thank you to everyone, for supporting us throughout these last three months. The support has been great and we're thankful to our faithful customers and that there was a demand and wanted us to open. We appreciate that,” Brown added.
Next week, the store will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, for donations. Starting June 29, the store will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
