Quilt maker, quilt collector and CR Quilts shop owner Jeannie Belgarde took time away from her duties at the shop to show several of her quilts to residents of Sunnybrook Assisted Living this morning. Several of the quilts were from her collection and date back to the 1800s. The yo-yo quilt, held by Belgarde and her granddaughter Ellie Stever, and being admired by, from left, Barbara Jacks, Betty Foody and Lois Parrett, is made up of more than 3,100 hand-made yo-yos which are sewn together to make the quilt. In addition to the older hand-pieced and hand-quilted quilts, Belgarde showed some of her own creations from bed-sized quilts to wall hangings that used modern technology in their making. Ellie has learned to piece quilts also and showed the three small quilts she has made, much to the delight of the residents.
