Railroad crossings need smoothing
To the editor:
Since 1969 there has been a much used expression that states: ?If they can put a man on the moon, why can?t they ____?? You fill in the blank.
With that in mind, the expression can be altered just slightly so that it applies locally and it would go something like this: ?If they can create a very smooth railroad crossing at Ninth Street, why can?t they do it at Fourth Street, B Street and D Street??

Those crossings are in terrible shape and very hard on vehicles.
With the upcoming quiet train initiative modifications at the railroad crossings in Fairfield this year, I certainly hope that part of that construction will convert all the crossings in town to those that are as good as the crossing at Ninth Street.
?If they can put a man on the moon . . . ? And I know that Burlington Northern Santa Fe does not go to the moon.
