It was wonderful to hear that the American Legion Post in West Point, Holtz-Geers Post 668, will be undergoing a renovation ? which it desperately needs. And even better to hear that Mr. Harold Dyer has been so generous in helping to make this possible.
The Legion is the site of so many memories ? from birthdays to weddings to wakes. And those Sunday night West Point dances! ? which used up so much of our excess teen-age energy. I am sure it was a major factor in keeping us out of trouble, and more-or-less focused on schoolwork on Monday morning. And of course, it played a huge role in our romantic lives.
In fact, if everyone who met their future spouse at a West Point dance (for example, me), sent in $100, I wonder how close they would be to their final goal. Maybe we?ll find out. . .
Sincerely,
