ALBIA ? The last time the Pekin baseball team was on the field, it faced a one-run seventh-inning deficit with three seniors coming to the plate.
Those three seniors were retired in order and the Panthers were handed a 6-5 loss to Washington.
In Albia two nights later, Trenton Northup, Brady Lamb and Zach Mosbey found themselves in an eerily similar situation, but this time, they won the game for Pekin. Following a leadoff walk to Northup in the top of the seventh, Lamb ripped a double to bring him home and Mosbey followed up with an RBI single that proved to be the game-winner half an inning later as they flipped the score and won a 6-5 game vs. the Blue Demons.
?It was almost the exact same situation. They didn?t get it done last time, and that?s the way it goes sometimes. But they certainly redeemed themselves,? said head coach Jeff Eeling.
The trio finished a combined 8-10 from the plate with five RBI?s for ninth-ranked Pekin. After entering the season without a single career home run to his name, Lamb blasted his second in three games this season to lead the offensive charge.
Lamb was also the starting pitcher before giving way to sophomore Josh Sterling, who picked up the win in his first varsity appearance after throwing two innings of hitless ball.
