Relays renamed

The families of the late Gordon Brookhart and the late Lee Crew pose with their plaques after a ceremony renaming the Brookhart Relays to the Brookhart-Crew Relays Monday evening in Fairfield Trojan Stadium. From left, are Rand Brookhart, Tom Crew, Marj Brookhart, Carolyn Brookhart Erickson and Steve Crew. Rand and Carolyn are Gordon Brookhart?s children and Marj is his widow, and Tom and Steve are Lee Crew?s sons. Gordon Brookhart and Lee Crew both had a passion for track and field. They met as competitors, later became teammates, and then eventually, close friends. Their families also became close friends, and felt the bond between Brookhart and Crew that began on the track should be immortalized on the track.
