DES MOINES ? Rep. Dave Heaton, R-Mt. Pleasant, has announced that he is running for re-election to the Iowa House.
Heaton is a former public school teacher and former owner and operator of The Iris restaurant. He has been active in the community through his service with organizations such as: the Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis International, Henry County Pork Producers and the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce.
As a former small business owner in Mt. Pleasant, Heaton also knows the challenges of being an employer in southeast Iowa. He continually focuses on ways to put Iowans back to work and give the taxpayers a seat at the table.
?I?m committed to funding Iowans? priorities while finding ways for government to be more efficient and effective,? said Heaton. ?I will work each day to improve Iowa?s business climate and get our economy moving forward again.?
?Rep. Heaton currently serves as the chair of the House Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee. He also serves on the Appropriations, Human Resources and Judiciary committees.
?In the restaurant business, meeting the needs of the customer is your top priority. I have worked hard to bring that same focus to representing the people of southeast Iowa,? said Heaton.
Dave and his wife, Carmen, have two grown children and two grandchildren.
