The Loebsacks bought a condo in Iowa City, giving Rep. Dave Loebsack (LOHB?-sak) an official residence in Iowa?s newly drawn 2nd Congressional District.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that the 1,350-foot condo on the east side of town cost Dave and Teresa Loebsack $205,000 and was bought on June 29.
Under a redistricting plan approved in April, Loebsack?s home in Mount Vernon fell in the same district as that of a fellow Democrat, Bruce Braley.
Rather than run against Braley in the primary, Loebsack moved south in hopes of representing the reconfigured 2nd Congressional District. The congressman says his daughter, son-in-law and grandchild live in Iowa City.
Bettendorf Republican John Archer says he intends to challenge Loebsack for the House seat.
