Republican, Democratic caucuses Tuesday

Jefferson County political party caucuses are scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday.

All county Democrats will meet at Fairfield Community School District?s Lincoln Center at Fourth Street and Stone Avenue.

Attendees must be in line or signed in by 7 p.m. to participate.

Republicans will meet at three locations around Jefferson County, by precinct, also at 7 p.m. Tuesday:

? Blackhawk-Polk-Packwood township residents will caucus at Packwood Community Center.

? Buchanan, Center-Cedar, Penn, Walnut-Round Prairie townships and cities of Fairfield, Maharishi Vedic City, Lockridge and Pleasant Plain residents will meet at Washington Elementary School in Fairfield.

? Liberty-Des Moines and Locust Grove townships and cities of Libertyville and Batavia residents will meet at Libertyville Elementary School.

Voter registration forms will be available to register or update information.

According to information from both political parties, the purpose of this year?s caucus includes:

? Discuss and adopt proposed resolutions to add to the county platform.

? Elect delegates and alternatives to the county convention.

? Elect precinct committee persons to the county central committee.
