?Burst Your Thirst? registration open through June 29
AMES ? Live Healthy Iowa?s Burst Your Thirst Challenge kicked-off Monday with more than 4,800 participants across the state.
The six-week hydration and physical activity challenge involves teams of two to 10 people who compete in a web-based competition tracking water consumption and minutes of physical activity. Each member tracks and reports their personal totals in an effort to accumulate points and move their team up the challenge leaderboard.
With a registration fee of $8, each participant receives a 26-ounce water bottle; weekly emails containing hydration tips, healthy recipes and summer activity ideas; access to a personal tracking page on the Live Healthy Iowa website; and opportunities to win team incentives and individual prizes.
In 2011, Burst Your Thirst had 2,720 participants on 537 teams from 94 counties. Participants logged nearly 6.6 million ounces of water and more than 4.7 million activity minutes.
Registration is open through June 29. Visit www.livehealthyiowa.org.
