Residents share their thoughts on health care

Information about the new health care legislation is slowly making its way from Washington, D.C., to the rest of the country. The bill that became law Tuesday is over 2,000 pages long, and there is still much uncertainty in the community about what is in it.
Halcyon House Executive Director Chris Marshall said that she hasn?t read through the bill completely, and said that it is difficult to know what is in the bill because it has changed so much in recent months and even weeks. Marshall remarked that she likes the fact that parts of the bill are phased in over several years rather than having them all begin at once.
?I do like the elimination of caps and the part of the bill about pre-existing conditions,? said Marshall. ?Insurance companies have placed limits on the amount of money they have to pay on a single person?s hospital bills for things like cancer treatments and surgeries. This bill eliminates those caps.?
