Results from small town, school races

More than 3,000 ballots were cast in the municipal and school board elections Tuesday in Jefferson County.
SCHOOL BOARD
Pekin school board
In the Pekin school board race, Kortney Baumberger defeated Jared Schultz with 376 votes to his 268 for an at-large position. Ray Fear with 446 votes defeated Mark Wittrock with 217 votes in the District 3 race. John J. Greiner received 472 votes in the District 5 race, defeating Katie Stanley Keith with 200 votes.
Cardinal school board
In the Cardinal school board at-large race, Andy Noe narrowly defeated Timothy Albert, 377 votes to 367 votes.
Van Buren school board
Van Buren County Schools had no contested races. William Cline (808 votes), Cody Warth (797 votes) and Sheila Parsons (777 votes) all won their uncontested races.
CITY RACES
Batavia
Tom Drish won an uncontested race for Batavia’s mayor with 57 votes. David Speas (48 votes) and Frank Smith (43 votes) won seats on the city council, beating Lynda Yochum (15 votes), and Deal Keasling II (10 votes)
Libertyville
No candidate ran for Libertyville mayor, but there were 57 write-in votes. On city council, Tom Atwood won an uncontested race with 73 votes.
Lockridge
Susan Hopper won the Lockridge mayoral race with 45 votes, defeating Paul Corbin with 19.
For council, the top three vote-getters who won seats were Joe Nelson (37 votes), Randy Russell (34 votes) and Tony Jones (32 votes), defeating Michael D. Renken (24 votes), Samuel Jackson LeSuer (23 votes), and Brian W. Buckhannon (17 votes).
In the race to fill a vacancy on the council, Don Hopper got 40 votes to Richard Richardson’s 22.
Maharishi Vedic City
The top five vote-getters to win seats on the Maharishi Vedic City Council were Robert Chris Johnson (74 votes), Steven Boss (73 votes), Marty Hulsebos (73 votes), Leslee Goldstein (66 votes) and Kara Anastasio (58 votes). Also running was Stellavera S. Kilcher, who got 39 votes.
In the uncontested mayoral race, Rogers Badgett was re-elected with 87 votes.
Packwood
No candidate ran for Packwood’s mayor, but 22 votes were cast. For council, Virgil Chandler (37 votes) and Doyle Allan Forsythe (32 votes) won seats.
Pleasant Plain
Richard Pohren won the uncontested race for Pleasant Plain’s mayor with 14 votes.
The council races were uncontested, with the five names on the ballot all winning seats: Larry Hook (15 votes), Carl Chandler (15 votes), Donald Jacob Pohren (14 votes), Paul Kessel (14 votes) and Susan Rutledge (11 votes).
