Richard A. ?Dick? Corell, 85, of rural Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Sigourney, died on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at his residence.
A funeral service for Corell will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, June 4, at the First United Methodist Church, 309 North Main Street, in Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Deborah J. Stowers will officiate. Burial will be at 10 a.m., on Monday, June 5, at the Forest Home Cemetery, in Mt. Pleasant, with a graveside flag presentation conducted by the Iowa Military Funeral Honors. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m., on Saturday, June 3, at the Kimzey Funeral Home, in Mt. Pleasant. The family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m., on Saturday.

Corell was born on Oct. 18, 1931, in Keota. He was the son of Harold Dale and Bess (Kammer) Corell. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1949. He matriculated to Coe College in Cedar Rapids and was conferred with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1954. On July 12, 1953 ,at the First Baptist Church, in Mt. Pleasant, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Maxwell. Shortly after his college graduation, he was called to the service of his country. He entered the United States Army and was stationed as a Medic in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1956.
For many years, he owned and operated Corell?s Outdoor Machines Sales and Service ? a small engine shop. He also worked a number of years as a salesman for Martin Brothers Restaurant Supply Co. In 1977, the couple moved to the Maxwell Family Farmstead, where he farmed and was a partner in Maxwell?s Market. He retired from farming in 1999, but worked in the market until recently.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed helping the church with its food operation during the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion, being outdoors, fishing and hunting.
Corell is survived by his wife, JoAnn, of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Cheryl Diane (Fran) Moe, of Cedar Rapids; a son, Michael Maxwell (Wendy) Corell, of Winterset; two sisters, Carolyn Culver, of Waterloo, and Ann Coleman, of Berryville, Ark.; a brother, Jim Corell, of Buffalo, Wyo.; three granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
