Riverboat foundation seeking new member to board of directors

BRIGHTON — The Washington County Riverboat Foundation is now taking applications to fill its director position out of Brighton, according to a news release Thursday morning.

“The board will accept applications from anyone who resides in the Brighton area of Washington County,” the news release said.

While eligibility is based on location, directors of the Riverboat Foundation “do not represent the areas where they live or work but represent the entire Washington County area.”

The news release said candidates would undergo an “extensive background check” by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and be required to attend meetings across the Washington County area. Time and travel for these meetings are not compensated, as it is a volunteer position.

Applications are available through the Riverboat foundation website. The deadline to submit is Sept. 10.
