RIVERSIDE-Already ahead of schedule in its construction, the $120 million Riverside Casino and Golf Resort is set to open Sept. 10, a month earlier than the date announced earlier this year. The project, which was fast-tracked from its beginning in July, managed to go from moving earth to installing the highest point on the five-story hotel in 103 days.
In practical terms that meant that more than 200,000 cubic yards of soil was moved; utility services for water, storm drainage, sanitary sewers and natural gas were installed; two ponds were constructed to serve as drainage retention and site accents were begun; and more than 100,000 square feet of asphalt paving base have been installed.
Then came steel, with more than 600 tons of structural steel fabricated and erected. For the hotel that meant 240 steel pilings, followed by concrete infrastructure, interior framing, and mechanical and electrical rough-in work. All of which was a good reason to hold a party, Dec. 14.
Among those invited were the directors for the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort, LLC. They are Dale Scheibe, Kalona, chairman; Gary Bishop, Iowa City; Edward Brown, Washington; Doyle Hoyer, Fort Madison; Robert A. Kehl, Fulton, Ill.; Ruth Kehl, Dubuque; Joyce Patton, Riverside; Joseph Simmens, Fort Madison; Robert Koller, secretary, Washington; Ken Bonnet, Clinton; Dan Carson, Burlington; Dan Kehl, Iowa City; Robert J. Kehl, Dubuque; Glen Patton, Riverside; John Schuldt, Fort Madison, and Randy Winegard, Burlington.
