RIVERSIDE — Riverside City Administrator Christine Yancey has announced plans to leave the position as early as Jan. 1 in a packet for Monday night’s city council meeting.
“It’s been a difficult year, and I just decided it was time to do something else,” she said in an interview Monday morning. “Without going into a lot of detail, there’s been some things that have been hard to work with, and I like to be productive, I like to feel like I’m making a difference and I’m doing some positive things, and I don’t feel like that’s happening right now.”
Yancey declined to go into the specifics of those difficulties, but said she wished the city the best.
“I think it’s a great city and I hope they take their time to find a good candidate for the position here, and the city can move forward,” she said.
According to a memo in the council packet, Yancey plans on Dec. 31 being her last day with the city, although she said she “would consider staying up to three months longer until a replacement has been hired.”
The outgoing city administrator said her career plans after leaving the position were not yet made.
