RIVERSIDE ? The Riverside City Council called a work session last Friday to investigate a backup copy of the city computer?s hard drive. The meeting was attended by mayor Bill Poch and council members Nate Kasdorf and Bob Schneider, Jr.
According to Schneider, a representative from the city?s computer networking firm, Iowa Solutions, said he could not tell if the backup copy had been accessed. At its meeting July 16, the council discussed the security of the backup hard drive. Poch, Schnoebelen and a member of Iowa Solutions made a backup copy of the hard drive from city hall. Poch took the backup copy to his residence, where it remained until the following Tuesday, at which time he put it in a lockbox at a bank. The council decided that a representative from Iowa Solutions should examine the backup copy to see if anyone had accessed it while it was in Poch?s possession.
