Riverside firefighters selling calendars as new fundraiser

RIVERSIDE - The Riverside Volunteer Fire Department is selling calendars for a new fundraiser.

Fire Chief Chad Smothers said the department had tossed around the idea in previous years, but had never done it.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, Smothers said many of the department's usual fundraisers were canceled and it became apparent this year was the time to try the calendar.

The calendar showcases a variety of members, equipment, dispatchers and more, Smothers said.

Local photographers Whitty B Photography and Rachel Fishback took the photos and put together the calendar. Sharon Telephone Company purchased the first 100 calendars to prevent the department from having any initial costs. 'There has been tons of support from the community,” Smothers said.

The first 100 calendars are almost all sold. To purchase a calendar for $20, contact the Riverside Volunteer Fire Department on Facebook.
