Riverside woman sentenced for sex offender registry violations

Cristina Gray, 35, of Riverside was sentenced to prison Friday in Washington District Court following a conviction of violating the sex offender registry, second or subsequent offense, a Class D felony.

Gray was expected to go to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office periodically to verify data on the Sex Offender Registry but failed to check in as required. She was subsequently charged with the violation in March.

Gray has two prior registry violation convictions in 2020, making this her third registry violation.

Gray also has two prior felony convictions, including a 2013 conviction for lascivious acts with a child — solicitation — a Class D felony — and a 2012 conviction for criminal mischief second degree — a Class D felony — rendering her a habitual offender under Iowa Code.

As a result, Gray was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison and must serve a minimum of three years.
