Road closure, water main installation begins today in Washington

The City of Washington M/C Department is installing an 8-inch water main on South Avenue B from West Van Buren Street to West Tyler Street (north jog).

Road closures will be intermittent during this construction, which will begin today, Wednesday, Sept 18.

Water disruption will be brief, and the residents affected will be notified a day in advance. Residents that will be transferred to the new 8-inch water main after it is put into use, will have a brief interruption as well.

The project will take approximately a month to complete, weather permitting.

School bus traffic will be asked to take a different route during most of the construction.
