Roger Julius Swanson, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, in Iowa City.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at 2 p.m., at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Mark Youngquist officiating. Visitation will be from 1 until service time.

Roger Julius Swanson, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, in Iowa City.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at 2 p.m., at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Mark Youngquist officiating. Visitation will be from 1 until service time.
Memorials have been established for the Swedesburg Church and the Swedesburg Museum. Honts Funeral Home, in Winfield, is in charge of the arrangements.
Swanson was born on July 8, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Clark and Nettie (Anderson) Swanson. On Aug. 31, 1952, he married Shirley Anderson, in Swedesburg. He was a graduate of the Olds High School.
He worked for Sheets Motors, in Mt. Pleasant, and the Olds Elevator before beginning his farming career.
He was a member of the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, working on cars and tractors, and spending time with his dog.
Swanson is survived by his wife; three sons, Douglas (Rose) Swanson, of Olds; David (Lisa) Swanson, of Olds; Scott (Jenni) Swanson, of Keota; one daughter, Kathy Swanson, of Swedesburg; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Swanson, of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; one brother; and twin siblings in infancy.
