Rubel announces run for Iowa State Senate

Tom Rubel, executive director of Indian Hills Community College, will visit Fairfield Tuesday to announce his candidacy for the Iowa State Senate in District 41.

Rubel will make his announcement at 4 p.m. in Revelations Café.

District 41 covers most of Jefferson County including Fairfield, most of Wapello County including Ottumwa, and Davis and Van Buren counties.

Rubel grew up in southern Iowa and has spent his entire career in Iowa, with the exception of one year. He was superintendent of the Ottumwa Community School District before joining Indian Hills Community College.

?I believe rural Iowa is at a tipping point,? he said. ?We can be a place where families want to live and business prospers or we can continue to be a place where young people and business want to escape. Let?s come together collectively to create a future that we all want and desire.?
