MOUNT PLEASANT - A rummage sale to benefit Midwest Old Threshers took place over the weekend at a local radio station. The sale was made up of a variety of donated items and clothing.
Throughout the weekend the sale was a hit with many people stopping by. Paul Dennison said the items were not priced, it was donation based.
All of the funds go toward a new Santa House on the Old Threshers grounds.
The new building will accommodate Santa's visitors with inside waiting and a public restroom, offer meeting space to small groups throughout the year and provide storage space for the Festival of Lights display.
'The lines to see Santa have been consistently long during the holiday season,” according to a letter by the Old Threshers Foundation. 'The new building allows families to wait inside, sheltered from both the winter weather and traffic.”
Joyce and Paul Dennison hosted the sale. The couple recently decided to donate an over 150-piece Christmas Snow Village to Old Threshers which will be housed and displayed in the new building.
Around half of the $200,000 needed for the new building has been committed, Dennison said, and the goal is to have it raised by next spring.
The sale also will be taking place next Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
