Runners show support for military with 10-Miler
MT. PLEASANT - Even when faced with chilly winds and cloudy skies, Robin and Jill Daniel, alongside their daughter Allison Brewer and close friends, were excited and determined to run and walk the Army 10-Miler in Mt. Pleasant.
The group of 10 gathered at Mapleleaf Stadium Saturday morning to run the race virtually. Brewer traveled from Illinois with her two young children and said her husband, Joe, who is currently deployed in Qatar was excited to hear about the family run.
'He was going to run it with us, but he's busy delivering chow, but he's excited to see pictures and stuff like that,” Brewer said.
Sarah Finn, Robin's first cousin, traveled from Des Moines to participate in the race.
'I'm here to support the troop and Joe, show him [that] he has a lot of support and family back here in Iowa,” she said.
Robin, who organized the virtual race and the route, said he felt it's important to 'show [their] patriotism.”
'It's important now, and it's important every day … There's a lot of men and women out there on the front line. We're here to stand up for them and know we support them,” he said.
