Salem man charged with OWI

A Salem man was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated after being stopped by a Henry County Sheriff's Office deputy for an inoperable rear plate light on Saturday, March 23, at approximately 12:30 a.m.

Jeffrey Wilkerson, 59, of Salem, was driving a red 2005 Ford Escape when he was stopped in the 2700 grid of Franklin Avenue in Mt. Pleasant Saturday. Wilkerson was charged with operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor.

As a result of a subsequent investigation the driver of the vehicle Wilkerson was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
