The Garden Tea Party hosted by the Ladies of the Lewelling Quaker Museum was held at 2 p.m. on April 10 with approximately 120 ladies in attendance. The Garden Tea Party hosted by the Ladies of the Lewelling Quaker Museum was held at 2 p.m. on April 10 with approximately 120 ladies in attendance. The guests were treated to a menu of tea sandwiches, chicken salad, cucumber sandwiches, fruit truffles, muffins, pound cake, pecan tassies, chocolate mint brownies, pineapple tarts, sugar free cookies, miscellaneous breads and bars, raspberry and peach teas, tea and coffee.The Tea Committee, Pam Schinstock, Martha Brown, Kaye Wesely and Pamela Stewart began the meeting by honoring the President and Vice President, Faye Heartsill and Jean Leeper, and Faye greeted the guests with a welcioming speech.
The guest speaker was Bev Bartman of Washington, who gave a very interesting talk on ?Herbs and their many uses?, and provided each guest with a chocolate ?mint?, in keeping with the use of herbs. The servers, Mikayla Brown, Amber Wilkinson, Adison Pullis, Allison Mills, Brynne Mills, and Clair Coleman, while filling tea cups chose the most unusual tea cup and a prize was awarded for that . The Silent Auction winners were announced anddoor prizes were given.
The Committee announced before departure that plans were in the works for an ice cream social during the summer months. Everyone seemed to enjoy the tea and left with plans to return next year.
Barbara Church, Burlington, visited briefly in the home of Jo Ann James before they attended the Garden Tea Party in the Fellowship Hall of the Congregational Church on Sunday, April 10.
