Bryce Lunsford tries on some running shoes at Brown?s Shoe Fit Company this morning, with assistance from Sarah Morgan, but wound up buying sandals. Iowa?s annual Sales Tax Holiday is today and Saturday. Clothing and shoes under $100 are exempt from sales taxes on those two days. The sales tax holiday was created to give Iowa families some relief on back to school clothes. Some of the qualifying items include shirts, pants, caps, socks, shoes and underwear. Jewelry, school supplies, backpacks and clothing for athletic activities are still taxable. The full list of taxable and exempt items is available at www.iowa.gov/tax/educate/holiday1.html. The Sales Tax Holiday does not include Sunday.
