Sam V. Neff, 91, of Washington, Iowa died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Mccreedy Home in Washington. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 25 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Rev. Paul Appel officiating. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery west of Wayland followed by a lunch reception at the Knights of Columbus hall. Open visitation will be Monday, May 24, 4:00 to 6:00

Sam V. Neff, 91, of Washington, Iowa died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Mccreedy Home in Washington. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 25 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Rev. Paul Appel officiating. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery west of Wayland followed by a lunch reception at the Knights of Columbus hall. Open visitation will be Monday, May 24, 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Washington. A prayer service will begin at 6:00 P.M. followed by visitation with the family present until 8:30 P.M. Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home of Brighton.
Sam was born July 19, 1918 on a farm near Wayland, Iowa, the son of Henry and Lydia Elnora (Tucker) Neff. On October 7, 1940, he married Virginia Davison, with whom he had a son, Jim, and a daughter, Patricia. Virginia died shortly after giving birth to Patricia, who died in infancy.
He married Helen Dempewolf June 1, 1947 at St. James Catholic Church in Washington.
