Jefferson County Supervisor Dee Sandquist has announced that she intends to seek reelection this fall.
'As residents of Jefferson County, we must always be asking ourselves what type of county we want to live in, and then have the courage to take action to create that place,” Sandquist said in a news release. 'Creating opportunities for people to live and work here demands clear and effective leadership. I care about the people and the future of our county. This is why I am running for Jefferson County Supervisor.”
Sandquist, who is currently serving her first term as a Jefferson County Supervisor, grew up on a family farm east of Fairfield and has ancestors who have lived in Jefferson County since the 1850s. Dee and her husband are family farmers with the goal of preserving soil and water health for future generations. She is a former health care leader, entrepreneur and active in community organizations.
Dee is an experienced leader and serves on and is active in over 10 committees as a supervisor, plus being active throughout the community. Her diverse background helps her see the big picture and take effective action to address the social and economic challenges that impact daily life in Jefferson County. Some of her areas of focus as supervisor include public health and safety, improving county roads, mental health, childcare, workforce development, and maintaining a fiscally responsible budget
'There are many moving parts to making our county work,” said. 'It's important to look at each part as it relates to the others to make the best use of tax dollars. By working together we can accomplish more to improve county services and serve our residents.”
