Everyone interested in gardening, food production, distribution, buying or selling local foods in southeast Iowa is welcome to attend.

OTTUMWA ? The food system conference ?Cultivating Opportunities,? scheduled Saturday at Indian Hills Community College, is re-scheduled to April 14.
Everyone interested in gardening, food production, distribution, buying or selling local foods in southeast Iowa is welcome to attend.
Early bird registration is now extended until April 11. Registration is $25, which includes a local Iowa lunch. Early registration is strongly encouraged so that local food can be sourced in adequate time to put together the local food menu.
Cost after April 11 and at the door is $35.
The concept of ?Buy Fresh Buy Local? has been expanding in Iowa the past few years, said Tish Reck, IHCC staff, regional economic advancement and advanced technology.
Iowa?s number of local farmers? markets has doubled in the past three years, Reck said.
?Southeast Iowa is no different. There are more horticulture and gardening events this spring than ever before. Hometown Harvest, Iowa State University Extension and Indian Hills Community College are committed to promoting local food and working to educate consumers about agriculture and community development.?
