Scam call asks utilities customers to make payments immediately

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department is warning residents to be wary of scam calls claiming to be from Alliant Energy and representing Mt. Pleasant Utilities.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was notified of a scam call going around on Jan. 29. A scammer is calling local customers and claming to be associated with Alliant Energy and representing Mt. Pleasant Utilities. The scammer is requesting payment be made by the customer or services will be terminated.
This scam and others have been circulating for a while, according to the police department.
