WASHINGTON - Various departmental reports gave the Washington school board an overview of the previous school year.
The reports provided an overview of last year's transportation, food services and activities numbers during the Wednesday night meeting. Business Manager Jeff Dieleman presented the reports.
The transportation numbers were skewed due to the shutdown in March, Dieleman said. The cost per mile was $6.71 last year. The year before it was $4.39. The cost per student also increased compared to previous years. Last school year the school spent $1,376.52 compared to $999.03 the year prior.
In the nutritional department, Dieleman said there was a decrease in the number of meals during the year, but a spike in the number of summer meals.
The 2019-20 school year had a decrease of 49 days where meals were served in the school compared to the previous year. This resulted in 62,855 meals being served.
There were 55,424 summer meals served. The year before there were 8,465 meals served.
Dieleman said the activities report was similar to previous years and was not as affected by the pandemic. He said this year's report will show a decrease due to the restrictions.
