The Fairfield Community School District Board of Directors is scheduled to continue a discussion on cost constraints and expenditure reductions during a work session set for 7 p.m. today at the Administration/Curriculum/Technology Center.
Board president Gail Miller explained no public input will be taken at the work session, but everyone is welcome to attend to listen to the discussion. No decisions can be made at the work session; decisions have to be made at the board?s regular meetings, she added.
In December, the district began a process to reduce its expenditures by $800,000 for the 2011-12 school year followed by a request from the school board?s financial committee for administrators to find another $300,000 worth of cuts.
The school board, along with many school employees and citizens, learned about why the budget cuts are necessary and the proposed budget cuts during a work session Jan. 27.
