The Fairfield Community School District has granted a step movement on the wage scale and amended contracts with its support staff employees, with both measures retroactive to the beginning of the school year.
The school board?s support-staff salary committee members recommended granting a step movement to all support staff because the teachers were granted a step movement through arbitration.
The committee also recommended amending contracts with 20 support staff employees, including teacher associates, secretaries, cooks, custodians, electricians and bus drivers, who were eligible for a wage increase because of the step movement and their years of experience.
The wage increase has a total cost of $13,075. Wages for support staff members, as well as for teachers, are paid from the district?s general fund.
