WASHINGTON - Lincoln Elementary School students donated 400 items to the school food pantry.
At the beginning of December, second-grade students in Liz Goodwin and Rebecca Collins' classes started a monthlong food drive for the school food pantry. Goodwin said the students and parents wanted a way to give to those in need.
The food drive started Dec. 1. Each day, Goodwin said there is a different item the kids can donate.
On Dec. 7 it was canned fruit, on Dec. 14 it was a box of pasta.
When high school staff picked up the items on Tuesday, Goodwin said there were over 400 donations.
Goodwin said it is always great to give back to the community and reach kids locally.
The pantry is available to be used by students and community members. Individuals can sign up for a time to visit the pantry on the school's website.
