School readies for new year

The New London School Board met in regular session on July 17, 2023 with Directors Jesse Howard and Lindsay Porter absent. The Board approved the agenda and the consent agenda that included the following fundraisers: Meet the Players Night, football apparel sales, football team apparel store, and volleyball apparel sales. No one addressed the Board in open forum.
Next they heard reports. The Superintendent reported on various items. He gave an update on the new playground equipment. The custodians are working hard and the MS/HS is finished and ready for students. They will return to Clark to finish there.
The Board took the following actions concerning Board business:
•Approved 28E agreement with the Henry County’s Sheriff’s Office for an SRO (school resource officer).
•Approved the continuation of the partnership proposal with Freedom Counseling Services, PLLC.
•Approved AEA purchasing agreement for school lunch program.
•Approved Alex Barr from Anderson-Larkin for auditing services.
•Approved change order for an additional seven card readers and wiring at $16,580 from contingency to Mohrfeld Electric.
•Approved legislative action priorities as chosen by the School Board.
The construction company damaged the floor at Clark while working on the new classrooms. The Board approved the flooring repair as long as the S & G Construction company agrees to pay $4,000 in damages.
In personnel matters, the Board took the following actions: Resignations — Karen Chiri — part-time custodian and Lance Ingwerson — Head High School Boys track coach. Appointments — Alexis Stephenson — Assistant High School volleyball coach and Emily Parks — VolunteerHigh School volleyball coach.
Before adjourning, the Board toured the new construction.
The next meeting of the New London School Board will be Aug. 21, 2023 at 6 p.m. in the North Campus boardroom.
