Employees from Bix Basement Systems, of Ft. Madison, began work on Monday to attempt to seal the Henry County Courthouse from seepage on the first floor. Before beginning the work, the firm had to excavate a six-foot deep hole on the west side of the building. Workers are shown applying HLM5000 to the exterior wall, which acts as a sealant compound. The HLM5000 will be covered with SilverGlo in hopes of stopping the water. County supervisors approved a $32,680 contract in September with the firm. The products also will be applied to the north side of the structure. Finally, tiling will be installed and routed to a drain on the east side of the building. Work is expected to take about one week.
