SEMCO landfill closing for COVID-19

RICHLAND - The SEMCO landfill in Richland has announced it will be closed to the general public until April 13 effective immediately.

Due to Gov. Kim Reynolds' response to the COVID-19 outbreak the Iowa Department of Transportation is recommended the closure, the company stated in a release. The closure is being dine as a step to reduce interactions between individuals and a health assessment will be done before the facility is opened again.

The landfill will remain open to commercial waste haulers only and will not be open at all on Saturdays. To dispose of waste, the public is encouraged to use curbside services and public drop-off sites, as stated in the release.
