A semi truck struck a utility pole at 300 N. Harvey St., on Wednesday, Nov. 18, in Mt. Pleasant, disrupting power for a short time to area residents and businesses.
According to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, officers were called to the Mid-Am Building Supply Company following a report of a semi striking a utility pole in the parking lot.
An investigation determined that a 2014 Volvo tractor, owned by Decker Truck Line, of Ft. Dodge, and driven by James Morris II, of Delhi, was pulling a flatbed trailer.
While turning into the parking lot, the semi struck a utility pole, causing the pole to break and lean over. The pole was holding power lines and the power went out in the area. The pole did not fall down but had to be replaced.
Access Energy was summoned to the scene and worked on the power lines.
Phone lines also went out in the area and Windstream Phone Company was contacted.
There were no injuries or damage to the semi. Damage to the utility pole was estimated to be $5,000.
