WASHINGTON — Two semi trucks collided north of Washington Tuesday morning, spilling some debris but not blocking the roadway. It was not immediately clear whether the crash caused any injuries.
The crash happened shortly before 10 a.m. Jan. 7, according to a Call For Service Log shared by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, which said the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 1, Highway 92 and 220th Street, between Kalona and Washington.
The log said one semi “continued into a field” after the crash, saying its driver appeared to be unconscious. The incident did not block the roadway, but did spill some debris in the area, according to a Union correspondent.
While records didn’t say whether anyone was injured in the accident, the county police log said there was no medical transport from the scene, despite Washington EMS and Washington Rescue groups being paged in the response.
Others called to the scene included a handful of county deputies and the Washington Fire Department. The Kalona Fire Department was also paged, according to the CFS log, but was disregarded before firefighters were en route.
At least one of the trucks was towed by Bulltown Towing, according to the CFS log.
Further investigation and documentation of the accident was left to the Iowa State Patrol, which also sent two officers to the accident site according to the county CFS log. As of Wednesday morning, the state agency had not issued an update on the incident. The Union was unable to locate Washington County court records related to the accident using the drivers’ names.
