The Fairfield Senior Citizen Site remains closed until further notice while efforts are made to repair problems causing elevated carbon monoxide levels in the facility.
The Fairfield Fire Department requested the building be closed July 8 after recording a carbon monoxide level of 93 parts per million. A reading of 100 parts per million is the generally accepted level for dangerous conditions.
?It was in the borderline area,? said Fairfield Fire Department Chief Ralph Hickenbottom. ?We decided the right thing to do was to err on the side of caution.?
Repair crews have been working on the problem since last week.
Site administrators suggested that people call the site at 472-4403 to get an updated report on the closure of the building.
