Two drivers and a passenger were injured, one of them seriously, after a collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and 190th Street in Washington.
A public report from the Iowa State Patrol said the vehicles collided at the intersection and came to rest in a cornfield on the west side of the road. All three occupants required mechanical extraction from the vehicles after the collision left them trapped inside.
A passenger, Solstice Herbert of Fairfield, was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals with “suspected serious/incapacitating” injuries, while others were moved by ground EMS, according to the report.
The report states that Joshua Pappas, a 40-year-old from Clear Lake was “under the influence,” based on an alcohol test.
The other driver, Fairfield woman Jill Herbert, was in normal condition, according to the report.
